An amazing ride

After the high I was on Monday, (if you haven't heard or read then please take a moment and go here) my husband and I decided to take advantage of this cool mountain air and see if we were stout enough, or crazy enough, to bike 25 miles to Frisco and back on Tuesday morning.

At home we have been sitting between 100 and 114 degrees and on vacation this week I believe the warmest we have seen is 76 degrees. One of the very reasons each year we travel here to celebrate my husband's birthday, is to cool off!

Also for the record the farthest I had biked was at home with 21.5 miles for myself and 14 for my husband. I hadn't really biked much since I was a kid, and found with my running passion that now I also enjoy immensely riding my bike. I began running the end of January and biking in April. I use biking as one of my cross-training day practices, and I'll share at a later date a few other ways I cross-train with.

Tuesday morning there was rain in the forecast for the afternoon and some times it was to be heavy. We left the condo with rain jackets, Camelbak's, money, Road ID's, camera and lots of heart around 10:00 a.m.

**Bill's shirt, PETA, People Eating Tasty Animals, yes he is a rebel, yes he loves meat and NO I do not mean to offend anyone. I can not control my Man!! Ladies, you would save yourself a lot of heart ache if you would place your Man in God's hands.**

This by far was the most beautiful bike ride I had ever been on! WOW, talk about gorgeous and perfect temps to be riding and simply enjoying what God has created for us to see, smell and hear. We stopped a few times to simply take it all in! And we were forced to stop on a very steep incline when Bill's bike chain decided to leap off of the sprocket and get bound up. My little bit of muscles helped get it back on and we were biking once again.
**Wouldn't you agree, these bike trails/roads are amazing? They are every where in this part of Colorado. And they were paid for using money from the lottery.**

We arrived into Frisco, which was our 1/2 way point also our turn around point and stopped for a fun lunch at the Summit Eatery. I was famished partly due to not really eating much after my 10k, I knew to eat, and so I did, but not a lot as I simply wasn't hungry.

I made up for it today! :-)

I ordered an awesome all vegetable sandwich served on a fresh home-made whole wheat flat bread with a side of vegetarian chili that came with a whole wheat roll. EVERYTHING was made fresh and right there, nothing out of a can, box or package. For the record we went back yesterday (Wed) for Breakfast it was simply just that good!

Our ride back was every bit as spectacular and enjoyable. We rode a full 25 miles, an elevation gain of right at 1,000 feet and a loss of 1,000 feet. We certainly won't get that in our part of Kansas! We locked up our bikes and walked through the door of the condo when the rain came in sheets and buckets and never let up. It was still raining when we closed our eyes that night!

Lord, thank You for an amazing day with my husband. For the ability to get out together and exercise our bodies, our minds and our senses. For breathing life into us and Life Eternal as well. For the rain that is desperately needed here in Colorado and I ask for a pouring out of rain on our lands at home as well and cooler temps. Lord, pour out Your Spirit! REIGN down upon us.
