Tough Enough Twilight

This week I've been extra diligent to run more miles, to run longer, to run while it is cooler in the early morning, to run on an empty tummy as well as do some cross training. WHY? Because I have a couple of gruel some races coming up and I desire to be prepared.

I am no longer allowing myself to run 2 miles, or to even skip my day to run because of _____. You can fill in the blank, because I'm positive you understand. Please please know that IF I was injured or ill, I would not push myself. This week I turned in 4 mile days, as well as my second long run ever, of 5 miles.

I also attended a mat class and a couple of pilates classes all thanks to my new found friend, Jasey at Poise Pilates. She has been working with me since November to gain strength and stamina in my body after battling some intense pain due to fibromyalgia, thyroid and mitro valve prolapse. I am so thankful for her gentleness, her encouragement and her ability to get me to do more than I had done the last time I walked through her doors. Thanks Jasey!

She is also my go to Gal when I have running questions as she has been an avid runner for many years. She just competed in a 1/2 Marathon in May down in Oklahoma City and is preparing now for a trail run later this summer out in Colorado. She is amazing! A true God send for me and my health, thank You Lord Jesus for Jasey in my life. Thank You Lord also for the ladies that You have orchestrated to speak life into my own life via blog world, face book and face to face friendships as well.

Tonight will be my first ever night race, beginning at 9:00 p.m. here in Ulysses called the Tough Enough Twilight 5k race. So this morning I prepared an awesome late breakfast to help fuel me for later in the day.

I enjoy "Bobs Red Mill" products and this is their 10 grain pancake and waffle mix that I added dried cranberries, chopped raw walnuts, fresh blueberries, cinnamon and flax seed to, they were delicious and with all of that fruit, who needs syrup!!! I fixed a couple of fresh organic brown eggs along with sliced strawberries and a large tablespoon of fresh ground almond butter. Yummy indeed to fuel my tank!!!

I will be back to post a picture or two from the race and tell you how I finished. My head cheer-leader will be there tonight taking pictures and encouraging me as I begin and finish. Thanks Babe!!!

**The beginning of the race this evening.....
To my readers, thank you for returning to Joy Comes In The Morning, for your words of wisdom and encouragement and for the opportunity to continue to share what the GOOD Lord has done for me and in me and through me. He alone, He alone, is more than enough.

**I came in 3rd of my age group, females 40 and older. My time of 30:10 is my best time yet!

Let's run the race, not growing weary.......

Great job on your race! And I love your fill in the blank.

I will not allow myself to skip a run because: I'm better than that and my body's strong!
