Saturday morning I awoke early before the sun came up to cool temps in the mid 50's and a slight breeze of 5-10 mph winds. I wanted to be sure and hit our small local Farmer's Market for fresh produce and opted to wait until about 8:30 a.m. to begin making my dream and goal a reality.
On Friday morning my husband and I mapped out a 5 mile run for me, so I would have an idea of exactly how far 5 miles was and that I would be running a straight shot instead of doubling back. This would keep my mind fresh and alert and not a dull routine.
When we returned back to the house Bill was concerned that it was to far for me to go alone, because what if something happened to me? I think he has watched to many NCIS' and CSI's, don't you?? ;-) He didn't ask and he didn't push me, he simply suggested that he would like to ride his bicycle along beside me while I ran my 5 mile run. He did this one another time, when I ran my first 5k race that wasn't a trail run. At that time, my pace was way slower and it wasn't fun for me or for him so naturally Friday night I went to bed being concerned about Saturday morning.
You see there aren't that many runners here in my area and I've not found a running buddy. One because I don't have to be awake at 5:00 a.m. when one of my friends runs because of her season of life right now and my other friend is a long distance runner. These are my current running buddies:
Until.....Saturday morning.
What a comfortable and enjoyable 5 miles it proved to be, and I totally amazed myself once again when I had hit the 5 mile mark. I actually felt like I could run a little longer but knew I should not push myself any farther, so I didn't. The distance I had ran to date was 3.64; and I don't want to find myself facing an injury. It was fun because Bill was out moving his body as well, doing what he enjoys while I was doing what I enjoy. A win-win situation!
5 Miles with a time of 52:15 with a perfect buddy! My best friend! Thanks Babe!
**I look forward to Thursday when I go for a long run, because Saturday evening I am running my first night race, a 5K Twilight run. Do you do long runs? How do you schedule, how do you fuel, and do you time yourself, or just go and have fun? I had no goal for a time on this first run, I simply wanted to accomplish 5 miles of non-stop running. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!

Thankful to God for giving me the endurance to even begin the first step let alone the last on this 5 miles. Thankful to God for 65 degrees when we took off on this little adventure and for a slight breeze instead of a gale or no breeze at all. Thankful to God for my Man of 17 plus years of marriage. WAY TO GO GOD!!!
