This morning when I awoke it was a gorgeous 66 degrees, 2-5 mph SW winds and 74% humidity. And drum roll, it is a REST DAY for me. Drats! Perfect for a run and especially perfect for a nice long bike ride. Instead, I spent time with God, enjoying my coffee and His word. Sunday I loved the special little wink from God, I will treasure this for a long time!! Look at the cover of our church bulletin:
Isn't God so absolutely amazing??!
Normally this morning with the weather I would have gone right ahead and enjoyed being outside moving my body but tomorrow I and three other running friends are meeting early for a long distance run. This is causing me to really settle in and reflect upon where I am at on this journey I set for myself last fall. The things I've learned about myself and just how strong the human body really is. The prayers I've prayed for my family, friends and strangers. Absolute solitude for most of my training and my heart to persevere. The support and encouragement the past several months. The blessings I've received and to be honest some really tough times mentally. One of the many blessings is that the last couple of weeks I've not had to run my LSD's solo. I've driven to Satanta and been there as Karen, Stacey and Tina surpassed the farthest miles they had ever ran. But tomorrow, the 4 of us, together will finish our run by accomplishing a brand new goal of 20 miles. TWENTY MILES, that is just a few miles short of the distance between their homes and mine!
As the days continue to be marked off of my calendar and the time draws near to October 6th, 2013, I begin to remind myself that while it is number crunching time, I have to trust my training. No one else can or has done it for me, this is and will be truly a God and Yolanda moment. I close asking for those of you that believe in the power of prayer, that if I cross your mind, you would offer up a prayer for protection of my mind and body between now and the finish line. That my Mister would not become discouraged as the miles and hours of training continue to increase for the next 6 weeks. That my friends would also be blessed, healthy etc for their first marathon the following weekend on October 13th. And as always, God would be honored and glorified.
Joy comes in the morning----
